RX Team

Team members should be able to do Bar Muscle Ups, Rope Climbs, toes to bar and RX weights in Benchmark workouts

Scaled Team

ONE team member should be able to do Pull-ups, weights will be scaled and released with the movements at the end of the month

Masters Individual

RX weights Ages 35-49 Ages 50+ Weights will be scaled. Masters skills ages 35-49 bar muscle ups, rope climbs, toes to bar 50+ Toes to bar and chest to bar pull ups

This is why the Cactus games will be host to those Masters ages 35+ to compete in their age groups for the title of the Southwest Masters Championship.

Our goal of The Cactus Games is to provide a platform for competitors of all ages, genders, and ability levels to compete and showcase their talents in a world class event. CrossFit has brought us together as a community and we value it as something we will be able to do for the rest of our life and promote a long healthy life. That is why we have chosen to have the following divisions for our Inaugural event.

Masters Individual Workout 1

WORKOUT

3 Rounds for Time

  • 15 Bar Facing Burpee
  • 10 Shoulder to Overhead
  • Rope Climbs (Designated # by age group)

STOVH WEIGHT

  • Masters 35-49 Males- 135lb
  • Masters 35-49 Females- 85lb
  • Masters 50+ Males- 95 lb
  • Masters 50+ Females- 65lb

ROPE CLIMBS

  • Masters 35-42 Males and Females- 3 Rope Climbs
  • Masters 43-49 Males and Females- 2 Rope Climbs
  • Masters 50+ Males and Females- 1 Rope Climb

*9 Min Time Cap

Athlete will perform 15 Bar facing burpee, athlete must make contact with chest and hips to the floor and may jump up or step up to Barbell but must have a 2 foot take off over Barbell. Athlete will then perform 10 Shoulder to Overhead, choosing press, push press, push jerk or split jerk to complete the rep.  Elbows must be clearly locked out with the head over the midline with knees and hips extended for the reps to count.

Athlete will then advance to the rope and perform designated number of Rope Climbs any way they choose as long as the athlete clearly tags the end mark on the rope.  Athlete will repeat this format for rounds 2 & 3 with 9 minute time cap.

POWER CLEAN WEIGHT

  • Masters Male 35-49 135lbs

GYMNASTICS

  • Masters 35-49 Male/Female- Bar Muscle Up
  • Masters 50+ Male/Female- Chest to Bar Pull Ups

*Athlete will have 2 minutes at each station to perform as many reps as possible. The Bike will be set at 0 by the judge and calories will be counted up until the 2 min buzzer for each round.  Power Clean must be shown under control at the top of the rep with elbows in front of the barbell with knees and hips fully extended and feet back to parallel. Bar muscle up must pass through and arch in the bottom and locked out with elbows extended at the top of each rep.  CTBPU must pass through an arch in the bottom with chest making contact below the clavicle for the rep to count.

WORKOUT 

3 Rep Max Front Squat (from the floor)

At the call of 3-2-1 Go the athlete will approach the empty barbell and load their 1st attempt.  Athlete must state loaded attempt to the judge before lifting. Athlete can power clean then front squat or perform a squat clean as long as the hip crease breaks parallel or the rep will not count.  All 3 reps must end at the top with the ankle, knee and hip at full extension. The athlete must wait for the judges down signal or the attempt will be considered a NO-REP. Athletes will have 6 minutes to establish their 3 Rep Max.

  • 30 Power Snatch 95/65 35-49 75/55 (50+)
  • 40 Wall Ball 
  • 20 Power Snatch

  • Masters Male 35-49- 20 lb ball/ 95 lb Power Snatch
  • Masters Female 35-49- 14lb ball/65 lb Power Snatch
  • Masters Male 50+- 14lb ball/75 lb Power Snatch
  • Masters Female 50+- 10lb ball/55 lb Power Snatch

Athletes must squat below parallel and clearly hit the center of the target for the rep to count.  IF the athlete drops the ball they must wait for it to settle to the ground before picking it back up.  No bouncing and receiving the ball.  Power Snatch must come from the floor to fully locked out with barbell over the midline of the body and knees and hips at full extension.  Athlete may not drop the bar from overhead, if a bar is not lowered below the shoulders before it is dropped it will be considered a NO REP.  

*8 minute time cap for the workout.

RX TEAMS

3 Rounds For Time | Each Athlete performs…

  • 10 Shoulder to Overhead 135/85
  • 10 Bar Facing Burpee

As a team must complete

  • 3 Rope Climbs RX

*Athlete 1 performs 10 shoulder to overhead, choosing press, push press, push jerk or split jerk to complete the rep.  Elbows must be clearly locked out with the head over the midline with knees and hips extended for the reps to count.

Then 10 Bar Facing Burpees (two foot jump back and up and take off are required for a good rep) after 10th rep of burpee athlete 1 tags athlete 2 to perform same rep scheme, then athlete 2 tags athlete 3. After athlete 3 finishes 10 STOVH and 10 BFB they tag athlete 1 to begin 1 rope climb in any way they choose as long as they clearly tag the mark on the rope, when athlete 1 finishes rope climb they tag athlete 2 and they go back to wait at the barbell to start round 2.  When athlete 3 finishes their rope climb they run and tag athlete 1 to begin round 2. Repeat this order for 3 total rounds.

SCALED TEAMS

3 Rounds For Time | Each Athlete performs…

  • 10 Shoulder to Overhead 75/55
  • 10 Bar Facing Burpee
  • 10 Sit-ups

* Athlete 1 performs 10 Shoulder to overhead, choosing press, push press, push jerk or split jerk to complete the rep.  Elbows must be clearly locked out with the head over the midline with knees and hips extended for the reps to count.

Then 10 BFB (stepping back and up and over the bar is acceptable) followed by 10 sit-ups where the athlete must make contact with their shoulder blades on the floor on the way back and sit-up to 90 degrees AND touch their toes for the rep to count. Any leg/foot orientation is acceptable but you may NOT anchor your feet. They will then tag Athlete 2 to complete the same rep scheme, followed by Athlete 3. Repeat this order for 3 total rounds.

Athletes will stand behind the bike 5ft and must tag out each switch, athletes will stand 5ft behind PC bar and must tag out each switch. Athletes will stand 5ft behind pull up bar and must tag out each switch. Teams can switch however they would like, but their initial order must stay the same for the entire workout.

SCALED TEAMS

  • 3 Minute ME Box Over Box Jumps 24/20
  • 3 Minute ME Calorie Bike

Athletes will stand behind the bike 5ft and must tag out each switch, athletes will stand 5ft behind PC bar and must tag out each switch. For the Box over Box Jumps an athlete may step or jump on and over or directly over the box as long as both feet pass over the top of the box and both feet make contact on the other side of the box to complete the rep. Athletes will be standing in a designated area to tag out as they choose for the box jumps. Teams can switch however they would like, but their initial order must stay the same for the entire workout.

RX & SCALED TEAMS

3 Rep Max Front Squat (from the floor)

6 Minutes:(2 Minutes each athlete)

Athlete 1 will step to the empty BB, at the call of 3,2,1 go athletes 2 & 3 can help load the barbell.  Athlete 1 will perform either a power clean into their 1st front squat or will perform a squat clean into their 1st front squat.  Athlete must state the load to the judge before their attempt. Attempt is a good lift when all 3 front squats go below parallel and are fully stood up with ankle, knee and hip extended at the top of each rep. Athlete must wait for down signal from judge before dropping the barbell or it will be considered a no-rep.  

At the 2 minute mark, Athlete 2 can either de-load the Barbell, attempt the weight that is loaded or add weight for their 1st attempt.  Athlete 3 will be allowed to do the same. Each athletes heaviest weight lifted will be added to their total score.
